47th Transmission

I find it difficult to maintain an ordered squad when those involved get themselves tossed in the brig.  Hmnf!  If you hear this, Zuko, you will answer to me when your punishment ends.  Or King.  Pray that he is more forgiving than I am.

[He mutters something that sounds like "damn kids".  Maybe.  Or maybe you're hearing things.]

The rest of you will report in.  Want to talk to you.

...

If you wish it to be in person, you can find me with the bees.  I have business with them.

[Meaning, he's itchy to hit something, and the bees are the best target.]

If you see this, got a female who wants to... do me a favor.  Need your advice.

"Pray that he is more forgiving than I am."

[It's spoken in a completely neutral tone, which tips up a bit toward matter-of-fact as he continues.]

That turn of phrase makes your intentions rather clear, regardless of my opinion. Just because you didn't outright state your intentions to reprimand him in so many words doesn't eliminate the meaning of what you did say, Ironhide.

[Did he ever introduce himself to you?]

You would do well to ask his companions what happened rather than jumping to conclusions, yes.

Furthermore, lecturing him, reprimanding him, is a form of punishment. I'm not sure where you learned the definition of the term, but that certainly falls under it.

[Still completely level, more or less emotionless.]

A lecture is a speech of warning or reproof as to a person's conduct. Punishing someone is delivering a reproof or rebuke for a prior act or pattern of behavior.

The design of the language isn't going to change to make you correct in this debate.
